Bedroom Design

Babies become toddlers and this means that they are unable to sleep in their cribs anymore. You will have to purchase a little toddler bed, but when are you going to do this? How are you going to add this to the bedroom without bending the theme you created before the little one was welcomed to the family? How are you going to go about this and have no problems? Designing a baby or a toddler’s room seems easy, but with all the options you have and all the things you have at your disposal it can make designing the bedroom a little frustrating.

There are some things you are going to look at first before considering changing the room for your toddler. If your little one can climb out of her or his crib, then you can move the loved one to a bed. If the little one is around 3-feet tall, he or she must be moved out the crib.

When you are designing you toddler’s room, look at the cartoon characters that your toddler loves and use that on the walls and on the bedding. It is important that you involve your child in this transformation. The new bed must be purchased weeks before the transformation. Your little one must be able to get used to it in the room. When you buy a bed, move it immediately into the baby’s room. Allow the baby to play on the bed under your supervision. Changing nappies and clothes on the bed will help your angel become familiar with it. If your baby doesn’t roll around when he/she sleeps put the sweet thing in the bed for a daytime nap. Lastly, you have to make sure that the new bed is in the same position as the crib when the transition begins.

If you are clueless as to what fabrics you should use for the bedding look for Jersey, Percale, Sateen and Flannel. These are popular for bedding. Percale has a silk-like texture. Flannel is comfortable and very soft and it is used mostly during winter months. Jersey is knitted cloth and Sateen is known for it softness.

If you are going to leave the walls the same colour you had them when you first prepared the room for the little one, then great! Maybe get lighter shade curtains and a carpet or rug displaying his/her favourite cartoon character.

When the time comes and the little one is ready for the move from crib to bed, they will already feel comfortable and you should not have too many hassles. If you are designing the room from scratch you should browse through magazines. The Internet is also a great place to get creative. There is not much to it when it comes to designing a baby or toddler’s room. Think of all the cartoon characters you have seen on television and integrate them into the design. You could end up with a custom-designed room (your idea), or you could get some idea from elsewhere.
