Phone Calls

Everyone wants to save on phone calls, especially with a mobile phone.  If you are looking to save a little money you might want to check out our tips below.  Phone calls are important, whether it is a business expense or calling family to check in.

  1. If you have a mobile phone, obtaining a two year contract may be in your best interest.  While it can be difficult to lock yourself in for that long of a time, if you find a company you are happy with it should be a better solution.  A two year contract will give you a set of minutes to use every month.  It also means the bill will be the same each month as long as you don’t go over the minutes you have purchased in the contract options.
  2. There are mobile phones that offer prepaid minutes.  These phones will allow you to make phone calls until you run out of minutes.  If you use them up in the month you can replace them for the same cost as the original minutes.  This can quickly become very expensive because of the ease of recharging the phone.
  3. If you have a home phone that you don’t use, it is best to cancel it and just use your mobile phone.  In the end you will save more money, by upping the minutes in the contract and getting rid of a line you don’t use.
  4. The best way to get the cheapest or most affordable plan is to compare within a company as well as compare all other companies.  Each company has their information online.  It can be a little confusing to understand their plans and the minutes you get for local and long distance, but there are customer service representatives a phone call away.  You can also stop in the store once you have compared the companies online.
  5. Before making a decision and signing a contract you do want to have all your questions answered.  In fact you might visit two stores just to make sure the information you found online is current and that you understood it completely.  Sometimes things can hide in the fine print.
  6. Phone calls are easy to make, but depending on the type of service they can quickly become expensive.  Being wise when you use your phone is very prudent of you.  If you have a nights and weekend offer on long distance, then you should let your friends and family know that is the best time to call.  It can save you plenty of minutes and money.

With the many companies offering mobile phone service and regular land lines it is important to not get caught in a trap.  Some of the advertised specials can look pretty great, but when they end you can be in a difficult circumstance that forces you to look for a new company and pay a new installation or start up fee.  This can actually cost you more in the end than settling on one company.
