Tyres

Tyres are an essential part to staying safe on the roads. After all, a bare tyre could send you skidding into an accident in wet weather or cause a severe accident. There are many ways you can take care of your tyres before you have to get them replaced.

The first thing you need to do each month is check the pressure you have in your tyres. The tyres tell you exactly the amount of air pressure you need to have. By checking it each month you are able to maintain this pressure as well as look for other things. Roads unfortunately have a high amount of litter on them. This could be trash or something dangerous like glass or nails. If something punctures the tyre you will have to replace it.

By checking the tyres every month during your air pressure check you can ensure the tyre is not damaged. You will also need to check the tread on the tyres. Tread wears. This can be due to alignment issues with your car’s axles or just normal wear and tear. When you check the tyres you can see where the tyre may become bare. If you have wear on the centre of the tyre you will need to get the car in for a check up. The mechanic can then align the tyres so that the wear does not continue. An outside wear will also require alignment.

Once the tyres become too bare you will run the risk of accidents or a blowout. When this occurs a replacement is going to be needed. Replacing your tyres should be done with all four tyres. If you are buying one new tyre, replacing all of them will get you a whole new set. Replacing one tyre could send the car into an unnatural wear pattern. This happens if you do not have four matching tyres from the same manufacturer.

Also when checking your tyres you need to make sure they are rotated at least once a year or more often, depending on the number of miles you put on the tyres. By rotating the tyres they will last long. You see, tyre rotation allows the natural wear patterns of each position to occur. This means that the tyre will be worn out properly rather than in one spot all the time.

Tyres are part of the danger when driving on bad ones. Do not let your safety become an issue from having old tyres. The replacement of tyres can be expensive, depending on the style of tyre such as an all weather tyre versus a spike tyre for winter. The tyre you choose should work on the roads that you drive, and have a good rating.

All tyres have to be rated for safety, but tyre recalls do happen. Make sure you are going with a tyre that you can get your money out of. Some of the cheaper tyres can wear out more quickly than others, and you may have to replace them earlier than intended.
